Several years ago I took 4.5 grams of mushrooms and had a lovely time. I can't imagine AI would have done anything but added negativity.

People Are Using AI Chatbots to Guide Their Psychedelic Trips

As psychedelic companies and therapy apps experiment with AI, people are already taking huge doses of drugs and using chatbots to process their trips.

"This exercise got me thinking about the ways we attempt to be present and to feel the presence of others in online spaces. I often find myself turning to the Internet when I feel most alone, seeking ways to feel connected to others; to feel seen by others."

The School for Poetic Computation is an experimental school in New York City supporting interdisciplinary study in art, code, hardware and critical theory. It's a place for learning and unlearning.

Just finished a workshop using https://codeberg.org/nickmontfort/frag β€” a *very* short program to not only explain some about Markov chain generation, but also to allow people to use different documents for generation, try different parameters, and make modifications to the code.

It seems that people here in #Toronto (the GTA; actually Univ of Waterloo) at the #ELO25 conference had fun!

just realized that as soon as tech companies made the shift from siri style "personal assistants" to "AI" that you were supposed to trust for actual answers about things, they stopped gendering them all as feminine. grok, chatgpt, claude, they're all either neutral or masculine
Yes!
Not really
Never interested me
I might give this a try!

Tamagotchis were really popular when I was a kid, and I knew some other kids who genuinely seemed to buy in to the idea that they were "real" animals rather than just an electronic toy. Now people like that are all grown up and cheating on their wives with chatbots. Stories like this one remind me that people who don't understand how tech works, can buy into all kinds of nonsense stories about it.

The #AI race is a marathon. The finish line is product addiction. AI service providers need their models to become indispensable in corporate offices and for the average consumer.

The problem for venture capitalists is no one knows how long that will take. No one knows how much runway they need.

It's less of an issue for big firms like #OpenAI and #Meta. But the smaller firms will soon drop like flies when the funding wells run dry. Another oligopoly in the making.

@Alien_Sunset Things have certainly gotten a bit harder, but I have a lot of hope for the community.
