@cloudskater all the best. I hope these pointers get you towards a solution.
@cloudskater sorry, but i dont have this experience with encrypted drive issues. I hope either this subreddit or the official Linux Mint forum can be of any help with this.
@cloudskater if it is encrypted you definitely need the password. I,'m all in on security etc. But being able to access my personal data is a must for me. What happens when booting from the live installer usb and mount the storage device on your computer using the disks utility?
@cloudskater after a fresh re install, setup timeshift, create a snapshot and then perform updates. That way its easier to identify the broken update and exclude that package from updating.
@Tutanota perhaps its much better and effective for authorities to find other ways to combat child abuse. Ways that respect the privacy of all eu residents. remember that child abuse was there long before all digital means were available on this scale and nobody talks about the expected effectiveness of applying these privacy invasive methods.

@unkx I had a more thorough look and you are right. There are some minor documentation improvements on how to do this on windows.

The copyright statement is not aligned with a document update. In fact , the most recent update was in 2025.

The development team currently takes in these improvements just before releasing a new version of Linux Mint.
