Some say that the constant pain of his injuries, along with the sheer amount of blood he spilled to become the terror of the oceans, finally drove him mad enough to pursue his reckless scheme.

Others who know him well attribute to him an almost supernatural clarity of vision. Though whether his inspiration comes from above or below remains to be seen.

Meanwhile Emmet & Sully are still trying to figure out what they're up against. They thought that whatever force set him hurtling forward in time also slowed his aging. But the fact that he seemed older in 1700 than 1890, and had many more irrecoverable injuries, pointed to a more subtle mechanism at play.

I felt that Luke needed a design variant that was slightly more anthro. Before he was basically an accessories-wearing animal.

This version of him *would* get called out if he showed up to your high society soirée not wearing any pants.

Sully's like the son that Emmet never had. And all parents—informally adoptive or not—know precisely how to embarrass their kids by showing they've been keeping up with "their" slang.

I don't know how Emmet came across that term and Sully certainly doesn't. I guarantee he's ignorant of the history behind it and explaining it to him would be far more trouble than it's worth.

But give Emmet a break. He's a few years away from being the age where you give someone points for not saying anything horrifically racist at a dinner party. And... he has a history with koalas and we'll just leave it at that.

The Box seemed to turn quiescent after Dagskwerhe touched it. The strange lights it emitted were no more. Perhaps the spirit it contained had fallen asleep. Perhaps the whole experience had been nothing more than another vision, a waking dream of worlds without substance.

But Dagskwerhe had changed. He knew this even though he could not yet describe it. The Box slept, but something inside him was now awake.

He decided to take it with him, in case it had more to teach him.

Emmet has a whole arsenal of directed energy weapons in "period-accurate" chassis. When going back in time you want both plausible deniability and firepower.

Thus the "Blunderbuster"—disguised as a flintlock pistol, but packing, shall we say, a bit more pep. Perfect for mixing with pirates and other high seas scalawags, which is exactly what he intends to do.
