Journalists will never stick around this app long term sadly unless it adds quote posting. We desperately need it to communicate effectively, build on each others ideas, and add crucial context to posts. These are things replies simply do not accomplish. Also quote posting or reblogging does not = harassment! Tumblr, for instance, has had the feature since the beginning. We need it here now too 🙏🏻

One thing that Mastodon newcomers may not realize is how easy it is to turn Mastodon for web into essentially a Tweetdeck clone, with columns for search/compose, home, notifications, and any lists you've set up. It takes literally seconds.

Here's what mine looks like right now:

No Stack Developer

A no stack developer criticizes the stack without understanding the stack. In addition to complaining, no stack developers engage in full rewrites, but don't finish them before quitting or getting fired, leaving an organization with no stack.

People posting things they're working on professionally or personally is *literally why I'm here*.

I would love nothing more than a feed full of smart people absolutely nerding out on shit they're into.

Okay, we're doing this! Going to post scoops here & Discord moving forward. One funny piece of news to start: a team at Twitter recently considered auctioning off old usernames. Here's how the idea was first floated on Slack: "Day 1 of the marketplace involves auctioning off all of the currently inactive handles. There are some amazing handles that are currently going totally unused, which is a waste...we take some percentage cut of the final auction price for each handle sold, like eBay." 1/

The Mastodon android app seems like it's missing a lot of features compared to web right now.

I wonder if the recent influx of new users will bring more open source devs with it to push development along.

Earlier today Elon Musk said that my ban was temporary, 45 min later he denied my appeal to reinstate my account and confirmed that I am *permanently* banned. The email I just received says the decision cannot be reversed.
I have never once violated Twitters rules or terms of service. I’ve never had a single tweet flagged, my account was permanently banned with no warning and with no reason, after I reached out to Musk for comment.
