Seemingly most authors in my Kindle library have a statement about providing the book DRM free only to have Amazon slap their own DRM on top of it just to lock you into their ecosystem.

Hopefully this will push/provide authors who publish via Amazon & be "Locked In" (see what I did there 😉) to exclusive contracts with them to find opportunities elsewhere.
