so it's not lost on me that the majority of people producing books about autism (through Jessica Kingsley Publishing) as of late are
- white
- mostly cis/het
- thin
- under 30
- from the U.K
and while they certainly reference the fact that they have privilege and that autistic PoCs "have it worse" , that's as far as it goes. because they're all pimping "autism acceptance" as opposed to burning this mother down, ya know?
i have been listening to two audiobooks on autism on and off
Looking After Your Autistic Self by Niamh Garvey
and
An Unapologetic Guide to Navigating Autism and ADHD by Jess Joy and Charlotte Mia
and i gotta say
while the incredible whiteness of these books is.....a bit much at times
the british and irish accents that these books are narrated with are soooo soothing (Niamh Garvey is irish, so her audiobook narrator is irish)

Pan-African Social Ecology by Modibo M. Kadalie is rapidly becoming a classic
