Just a place for me to talk about watches, clocks and more generally, the perception of time.

In my collection I also have binary-coded duodecimal/sexagesimal watches and one that displays time using the French revolutionary (decimal) time system. Those might give you some insight into my username and display name respectively. 😉

So yeah I have a meeting, which I will be honest is not my favourite at 16:00 (4PM) today. So I figured I should convert that to decimal time so that I will be able to keep track on my watch.

Yeah… that would be… 6:66… 🤯👿

So for the start of the New Year, I am still rocking the decimal watch, though I had to change out the cheap (thick and uncomfortable) strap it came with for something a little nicer. #WristCheck
Time to sleep I reckon. #WristCheck
Potentially easier to understand the time here, since it just hit the last quarter of the day, i.e. 7:50, which would be equivalent to 6PM in normal time.

Just going to add this typewriter to my Christmas list 📝. Hopefully 🎅🏻 sees this message.

Ok, #NoWristCheck but rather a more generic #TimepieceCheck. One of several hour glasses I own.

This is a Jay Lab 60 min sand timer (hour glass) made of borosilicate glass (as typically found in lab glassware). To keep that science feel it has a beaker like shape and a simple font to show the time it is rated for (60 minutes). They also make (or made) a 30 min model and it has '30 minutes' printed on the side.

I wrote more about why I like this on my alt account:

Attached: 1 image Tip: Hour glasses are great if you have small kids. When my own kids where younger I would flip one exactly one hour before their bed time, and then explain that when it finished it would be time to go to sleep. This is very useful in Norway, where in the summer it stays bright for a long time. A ten minute one is also useful when preparing for how long until "we leave for X". My youngest used to talk about time in terms of how many "big hour glasses", rather than just hours. 🤪

@aleksey no love for ⬆️?

Haven't worked it out yet? 😉

I see you regularly liking the binary ones ⬇️.

I have yet to do a #WristCheck I see. I sort of keep forgetting. I even took a picture this morning and then got distracted.

So here we go. I am wearing a Slow Jo 02 with nato strap.

These watches have only one hand and cover 24 hours. The "slow" in the Slow watches name is a pun because being 24 hours they move at half the speed and they are an attempt to be part of the slow cultural movement.

Accurate but lacking precision, which is considered a feature here and not a bug. #SlowWatch

An ugly hack job in shell and I hardcoded the Norwegian flag emoji … but … it works! 🤷🏼
