Over the weekend I put together a template for auditing accessibility for SEOs. It is a working document and I will continue to add to it. It also includes a tab for developers with activities that go outside an SEO's scope.

You can access it here each suggestion has a supporting article for you to back up your reasoning/learn more.

So you could say 15.8% of any company's revenue assuming everyone can use the site, or +15.8% more revenue if it's not accessible to people with disabilities

That's just looking at online sales, you could use a similar logic for other conversion types.

As SEOs we need to advocate for accessibility - it does help SEO, it helps us add more value and it's the right thing to do.

Do you include accessibility in your SEO/digital strategy?

The UK's population is 67.3 Million, with 92% having access to the internet, and a total online spend of £120 Billion in 2021.

18% of that population lives with some form of disability. 81% of people with disabilities in the UK had internet access in some capacity, that's around 10 million people.

That means 18% * 81% / 92% = 15.8% of the total internet population has a disability, so it's 120B * 15.8% = 19 billion GBP market of people with a disability in the UK

One of the things I hate the most about being an advocate for accessibility is how little some stakeholders care until I can provide monetary value to creating an accessible website.

I try to focus on the human aspect as much as I can, however, I have never convinced anyone to create an accessible website on humanity alone. It always comes back to ""what's in it for me"". Here is how I work this out.

Women and Female presenting people in SEO working for agencies or freelance. If you have a couple minutes to spare, could you head over to twitter to complete some polls?

I'm updating my study around women in SEO and sexism from clients. The polls are completely anonymous and I will not be sharing any personal or identifiable information from discussions of the back of this.

I will share the findings publicly.
