Mastodon

Here's a glimpse of this month's most popular publishing tools. It's just the data for posts made in June on mastodon.social:

- Web 23.9%
- Jetpack 6.5%
- Mastodon for Android 6.3%
- Mastodon for iOS 4%
- Tusky 3.3%
- IFTTT 3.2%
- Ivory for iOS 2.5%
- IceCubes 1.1%
- Mona for iPhone 0.7%
- Elk 0.4%
- Phanpy 0.3%

The rest is divided up between literally a thousand other sources. It means around 66% of users are posting from 3rd party apps and integrations!

Yeah, none of that has landed yet. The later betas should be interesting.

@[email protected] I was shocked at how stable the iOS and macOS first builds are. Then I thought “oh, I get it, it’s minor normal stuff, and all the big stuff is the ai, none of which has landed... so duh”

Playing around with the Mammoth app tonight. Also, playing around with the iOS 18 beta at the same time. Installed this afternoon and so far, no major issues in Beta 1. Good job Apple.
The earth isn’t any bigger, so why are all mapping apps/services over 2.5 years behind on updating things? It used to take 6 months to get an update. My house built in 2021 still isn’t showing up in its completed form. Google or Apple. And don’t get me started on getting directions or deliveries.
We are slowly getting UW coverage in town and it never fails to amaze me this is over cellular. I have gigabit cable at home and still can’t quite get these speeds.
@overcastfm I think there is a bug/limitation while using the watch app. I’ve noticed if I pause a podcast from the workout app that my resume location is several minutes behind where I was when I paused it. I usually come back to the podcast many hours later. Or days later.
Even after setting up my wife’s pre-order days earlier, during the checkout (which is just two taps) they screwed up the shipping address and are sending to an apartment we haven’t been at in over 4 years. 🤔
You'd think after almost 15 years of this they would learn. But no, they didn't. Or they took it for granted. What a mess.
