@TechConnectify At the risk of also sounding like “old man yells at cloud”, does this radio have a schematic on the back panel? My old tube radio has one of those and I assume it would have been common to have done that back in the day.
@dl2jml @femme_mal Let me guess, you also get upset when folks don’t prefix Linux with GNU and sit on HF frequencies that others are using to hold them open for a net. Or is it unfair to paint someone with such a broad brush based on incomplete information?
@TechConnectify @sudo_whoami Weirdly enough, the Cascade powder somehow seems inferior to the Great Value powder and I don’t know why. I will be sad if they change whoever is making it and it’s no longer good.
@TechConnectify I’ve noticed that with one of my old tube radios too. There is a feature on (slightly) newer tube radios that compensates for this problem, called Automatic Frequency Control.
@TechConnectify I bought a spray can of windshield deicer to solve the problem of icy EV power connectors in New England. It would be nice if the handles were heated.
@hagen @TechConnectify FWIW, VW’s ICE vehicles do this now as well. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that in a Tiguan. It automatically powers off when you leave the seat.
@TechConnectify @gregly I think I spent the better part of a week getting Zigbee thermostats to work with Home Assistant and hated the whole thing. I don’t even use the schedules, I just wanted to be able to change the temperature from a different room and otherwise have it do nothing else. I’d have gone with something else, but neither Nest or Ecobee seemed like they would leave the temperature alone, and Honeywell needed a wire I didn’t have.
@TechConnectify @lime My Toshiba microwave has the same annoying design, but its timed popcorn button works great for me, so it’s a wash.
@TechConnectify The name is a misnomer, but here’s the safe way to do this: https://quick220.com/

@TechConnectify Probably far too late for this, but why not just get a chest freezer with an external PID sensor on it to use it as a refrigerator? If you don't wire it directly into the circuitry, it's fully reversible to use as a freezer too.
