It’s odd to think that Google Photos has matched my face in probably tons of photos taken by other people and I can’t see them.
Phase 2, moving over my Zigbee network to a Sonoff 3.0 stick.
I’m seriously gonna have to get out there and hustle for Joe Biden again?
Going to embark on rebuilding my z-wave network with an 800 series stick in @homeassistant. Send your positive vibes.
In early ‘99 I downloaded a bootleg video off an internet warez community I was a member of (Hotline iykyk). It ended up being the Blair Witch Project and at the time me and my friends genuinely weren’t sure if it was real or not. It was surprisingly hard even in ‘99 to quickly vet something. Those were fun times on the internet.
On this anniversary of Twitter’s demise, it seems fitting to share the farewell email I sent when I departed in 2021 after 11 years. It all mostly still stands true, except for that last bit about Twitter being a long lasting company.

I fully expected becoming the “computer guy” to assist my parents. I did not expect I’d also be the “computer guy” to my kids. Tinkering with computers and the internet as a teen in the 90s clearly was a very specific window in time to explore, learn, make mistakes (like erasing your entire HD), and have fun with tech. You really can’t tinker like that anymore and sadly so much of doing things on the internet now seems to be distilled down to simply “making content”.
I thought I was a rare oddity to have gone almost 3 years without catching Covid. After I finally got it recently I discovered that there are many others who managed it to evade it still. Granted, it seems lately their luck is running out like mine did.
I started to create critical alerts within @homeassistant so when the earthquake critical alert arrived from the MyShake app, my first thought was I needed to debug something 🤣
Ever since I saw someone refer to the white Tesla as the Ford Taurus of today, I can’t get it out of mind whenever I see someone driving one.
