In early ‘99 I downloaded a bootleg video off an internet warez community I was a member of (Hotline iykyk). It ended up being the Blair Witch Project and at the time me and my friends genuinely weren’t sure if it was real or not. It was surprisingly hard even in ‘99 to quickly vet something. Those were fun times on the internet.

@bhaggs I saw it in a theater on a first date with a girl and I knew absolutely nothing going in.

Also hotline was dope.

@bhaggs cant recall the year exactly, but do you remember when people found a bunch of vhs tapes in the design center? it was a video of The Ring, but only the creepy woman crawling out of the TV. no explanation at all! The movie was announced a week later, but I was SO into trying to understand it before we knew it was a movie.

So much effort to make the videos and then just leave vhs tapes at a school...
