“12 Long Months” is an original composition I created just for the hell of it. It is serial music, which is a form based on the the non-repeated intonation of 12 tones in a row.
Each instrument or voice in the composition sounds out the 12 tones of a given scale. Each instrument can also play its 12 notes at the same notes but it’s usually an inversion or retrograde of the same 12 tones.

It’s official. I’m on Spotify. The lyrics for this song, “Oh Mistress Mine,” were written by William Shakespeare over 400 years ago for his play, “Twelfth Night.”
I composed and recorded the music. Yes that’s me singing. My chosen genre was the art song for medium voice. This genre, though not popular, is still prevalent in academic settings.
It might no longer be obvious, but I was once a singer. I never went far beyond academia, but it never quite left me either.

This poem is a story about the survival of a river’s inhabitants. I took most of the photos on the St. Johns River. The story combines two Asian forms: Ki Shô Ten Khetsu and Haiku.
