VP Marketing @DeepDyve. Marketing, operations, games, and monkeys: these are my jam. James Holzhauer is better than me at trivia.

We’ve had 46 U.S. Presidents, and they’ve been indicted on a total of 71 felony counts. Here’s how it breaks down:

President numbers:
1 - 44: 0
45: 71

To paraphrase Dan Savage: This is not the guide to longevity I wanted to read today. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/05/25/henry-kissinger-100th-birthday-appreciation/
My father, Henry Kissinger, is turning 100. This is his guide to longevity.

On his 100th birthday, the former secretary of state is as active and engaged with world problems as ever.

"the debt crisis" there is no debt crisis. Republicans are threatening to crash the world economy to get what they want, which is to hurt people

"negotiations" there are no negotiations. Republicans are making demands to hurt people, which they are leveraging by these threats

I noticed something weird about the mainstream media's coverage of the campaign of violent threats that have intimidated Target into removing some items from their Pride collection and moving displays to the back of the store: Words like extremism, far-right, terrorism, and violence aren't appearing anywhere in these article.

I conducted multiple Google news searches to be sure and nope, it doesn't seem like the media is accurately covering this as far-right terrorism.

Stop pretending LLMs are some kind of worldbrain. They're not. They're a collection stuff that one group posted online (because they could), cherry-picked and mined by another group (because they could).

I know it's ridiculous to even suggest this, but everyone has to treat LLM "intelligence" as fraught with biases and errors. Always. Forever. It's not BETTER than traditional research or search. It's EASIER. But it's also WORSE.

I spent a good chunk of this weekend with this story. It's...definitely in the weeds of quantum theory, but I'm deeply interested in the notion that the universe itself, through the mechanism of black holes, is a "participatory observer" that can decohere quantum states.

Researchers Argue Black Holes Will Destroy All Quantum States

New calculations suggest that the event horizons will eventually “decohere” quantum possibilities—even those that are far away.

Morning! Regardless of why Tucker got the boot at Fox News, the real story here is that Fox hasn't changed.

They are still in the business of pandering to white supremacists, conspiracy theorists, and other bigots. They can't make money otherwise.

Don't expect Fox News to clean up its act without Tucker Carlson — they still sell bigotry
