General Geek, currently at InfluxData.

My key skillset boils down to problem solving/troubleshooting.

I mostly talk about tech stuff, sometimes slipping into politics or economics.

I'm not great at writing bio's though - the one on my site hasn't changed in years!

Looks like it was probably here, phone doesn't do it justice but the board's bubbled and disformed.

Put it back together ready to return, but have cut the wires so that they don't do a quick power on test and then sell it on to someone else

So this is fun... I ordered a new carbon monoxide detector to, you know, save our lives. Stuck batteries in then wandered off to find some screws.

Came back, and it was warm n smelt of burning.

Batteries felt *hot*

Managed to ping 2 out, and then the third one burst, spraying me with hot battery innards.

One of the (few) things my analytics system captures is what people search for on my sites.

Spotted this on one of my .onion's earlier and gave me a chuckle: you can feel the user's frustration at not being able to identify the "MAC Address" they seem to think they're looking at (it's actually an IPv6 address)
