@project1enigma I have an account not associated with my real name that I can message you privately if you'd like
@kolev Yes, Kiddush.social will be shutting down in the next day or so. I made a thread about it a few months ago:
https://kiddush.social/@kiddush/112190824481056408 It is with sadness that we announce that Kiddush.social is shutting down. The servers will go offline no earlier than July 1st, 2024, approximately 3 months from today. @benkap will reply to this thread with further details.
Kiddush.socialThanks to all the people who were kind to me during my time here and with whom I had cool interactions! Wishing you all only good things!
It's honestly understandable that most Jews want to stick to the social media platforms where they have a social circle and don't want to venture onto a new platform right now. Maybe sometime in the future I can give Kiddush.social a try again (I'll be keeping the domain name) but I'm not sure when that will be.
I still like the Fediverse for what it is, and believe it could represent a better future for social media, but it certainly doesn't solve all of social media's problems. There's just as much antisemitism here as most other social media platforms, just with a very smaller percentage of Jews and allies to actually call it out.
I think October 7th changed a lot of Jews' relationship with social media, and the Fediverse is no exception. Interacting with social media these days is tiring and frustrating. I don't blame the Fediverse per se, so much as just humanity, I guess.
In short, I do see Kiddush.social as a bit of a failed experiment, but it's an experiment I'm glad I did
I wanted to make a long, eloquent goodbye post, but I'm not sure I really have the energy
Just downloaded a server backup of Kiddush.social, the server will be going offline in a few days
@serge "criticism Seinfeld has frequently reframed as antisemitic".
It's amazing how no attempt is made to even consider that a Jew stating they face antisemitism is telling the truth. It is self-evident that they are just reacting to "criticism" that they have "reframed" as antisemitism. Hard to imagine this rhetoric from Vox if a member of a different minority group had claimed that they faced discrimination or bigotry.
