#askatp In light of the recent discussions about Apple's anti-competitive behaviour, is there anything that would cause you to consider migrating to a Android phone?

Apple is usually very smart about the web. They wrote and open sourced the engine that powers the web on every mobile device, after all.

To see them forking the web in Europe makes me sad. When you lose the trust of web developers, you lose a lot.

And I suspect that this is just the first case where this decision is going to bite them in the ass.

They forgot that the first part of WWW is world.

The Gen X mantra.
Hi beautiful people. Communication had been a great struggle for me lately. Sometimes I get spikes in energy and start telling you all about the new designs I make and why I love making them. But it's been harder lately to post. I'm still uploading loads of new designs every day tho! I'm creatively active but struggle to post about it. I just uploaded loads of handmade works. I really hope so send them all away. Reblogs are deeply valued. Over 300 pieces available here:

Article 45 Will Roll Back Web Security by 12 Years

The EU is poised to pass a sweeping new regulation, eIDAS 2.0. Buried deep in the text is Article 45, which returns us to the dark ages of 2011, when certificate authorities (CAs) could collaborate with governments to spy on encrypted traffic—and get away with it. Article 45 forbids browsers from...

It's funny: Both Bandcamp and Patreon had the easiest and most straightforwardly long-term profitable business models imaginable: Sit between indie creatives and their fans, provide some basic services for mediation (comment sections, media posts, semi-global payment) and take enough of a cut of any payments to cover the costs and then some.

But because that business model wouldn't scale forever, they are instead being gutted, because ever _increasing_ growth is the only model capital accepts

Now would be a good time for all European politicians and journalists to setup accounts on Mastodon.

🤔I have friends that absolutely hate Venture Capital. Hate the very concept. They believe that VC ruins everything, and that the setup is evil, and prioritizes hyper growth above everything. Some of these friends will drive over to my house just to sit me down and yell at me in unhinged rants about how evil VC is, scaring my kids.

If I think of the most unhinged, hyperbolic, doom and gloom rants about VC that I've ever heard? None of them paint VCs in worse light than Marc's manifesto.
