Olde scottish designer of massively scalable computer systems, and fun guy who never grew up - at heart of internet for over 30 years !

software would be easier if the authors of C hadn’t decided not to specify any sizes for basic objects

“will this C code from 2008 work as intended on a 64-bit computer?” ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

is there a clang-format flag for “assume the author was running 32-bit windows, now fix this junk”

@awooga Well the irony was meant to be funny anyway. #fail
What's a good first toot? #mastodon

@awooga that is extremely cool :)

After Milwaukee Makerfaire (and some camping trips) I hope to get back to work on Raiden (I need to get some solid baseline performance measurements so I can start on Mark II to replace it, it's so damn loud/hot/power hungry 😋)

Telegram is a shady app. They rolled their own crypto, put up a "challenge" to break it with conditions that would've made most crypto unbreakable; most importantly, they do not even encrypt anything by default

@[email protected] - thanks for the feedback on "rename toot! button" in docs - but where is better place to post this...... internet a very BIG place...... #awooga !

For noobs to mastodon - getting it installed, running, upgraded, and even slightly altered can be big thing.

Not all of us have 10+ years in un*x - bon jour !

We're gonna have a new community manager starting Monday, by the way

She's gonna be managing our official social media accounts, thinking of ways to promote the platform, answering questions and talking to journalists when needed

Hard to take a picture of a black box with an illuminated screen, but hey, it's alive! https://social.coop/media/V3N-ipvXsjK32647KEk

@drwho I hope you'll pardon me a very basic computer question. I've been playing around with Huginn recently (heard about it from you, actually). I've got it up and running and I can access it via 127.0.0.1, but I'm trying to set up url for it. Do I need to register a domain name for Huginn running on an Nginx server on my personal computer? Again, apologies if this is really silly, but I am a mere biologist.
