28, totally blind, partially deaf. Assistive technology specialist, music lover, all around nice guy.
and you know what other device doesn't have a mono audio toggle that really could use one? the victor reader.
so if you don't know Roger it's an accessory made by Phonak. it's a long skinny device that can be used as either a microphone for a person to speak directly to you, or as a device which can provide output to your hearing aids from a device that' they can't connect via bluetooth to, for example, a record player.
Today saw the introduction of something ntruly worthy of celebration: a modern, 64bit, truly responsive formant-neural sapi voice for Windows. Today also saw the introduction of a recording that is based around the fact that that demo of the voice does actually downsample after a minute of audio. However, it does not do the impending craziness that I put it through before activating the license.
so as part of my temporary lack of hearing in my left ear I've had to switch everything over to mono audio. that's fine until you have a device that doesn't support it. I still have roger, but Roger is expceting a left hearing aid, so it doesn't play anything on the left. so you have roger, then you have it connected to a record player. of course, the record player has no "mono audio" setting. Ah well, guess it's listening to either really old records or records made specifically in mono for me for the next little while.
Okay, so like... Question for someone who knows more about filters than me. I've set up a filter on the web, but I'm still regularly seeing boosts that should be caught and hidden by the filter I set up. Do filters not apply to boosts? Is there a setting I need to enable somewhere? What's going on? I've checked all the settings on my filter, and they look to be exactly the same as the settings of filters that actually work. I would very much appreciate help, I'm trying to filter something from my timeline that's genuinely problematic to my mental health, and I would rather not have to start unfollowing people or disabling boosts. Not a subpost, BTW. Edit: I use enafore, for clarification. Other filters appear to be working, it's just this one that seems problematic. Mona seems to respect this filter, it's just that enafore is for some reason not doing so.

Elvis hit the charts like a firestorm in '56 with 5 hits on the Billboard year-end list, included #1 and #2. I'm posting number 6, Hound Dog https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eHJ12Vhpyc

Dear #NVDA users, any clue how to avoid say all scrolling the braille display? I like having braille but it can get loud when it scrolls.
leaving here in a little while. I'm hungry but can't do anything about it.
it really is a shame that this is the type of music I really got into before the surgery. it pans a lot. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mJSj-785Ujz2cedEUlWGjUZ73hFe0z6uE&si=Yt3SWORc8xJVTvtP
