Remember: Twitter is Elon's company, he has the free speech and free association right to run it pretty much however he wants and to ban people for petty narcissistic reasons.
And we have the right to laugh and point at his ridiculousness and at the free-speech pretenses of his gullible fans.
With each new surge of Mastodon users, I feel the need to point out:
1. Welcome!
2. There is a learning curve here, but most people find it short and not very steep. Play around, explore. You'll get it.
3. Lots of people are willing to help.
4. Yes, it's different than Twitter. Sometimes in good ways, sometimes not. But you'll figure it out.
5. With surges especially, things sometimes get slow/glitchy, but they usually get fixed pretty quick.
Be patient.
Salt in agricultural land is an accelerating global problem, partly due to climate change, which increases the salinity of soil whenever floods sweep coastal zones. Typically, this lowers crop yields.
Now we know how plants steer clear of salt https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2022/11/221102095910.htm
To avoid salt in soil, plants can change their root direction and grow away from saline areas. Researchers helped find out what makes this possible. The discovery changes our understanding of how plants change their shape and direction of growth and may help alleviate the accelerating global problem of high soil salinity on farmland.
In all seriousness, the trolling of a billionaire into ever increasingly foolish business decisions on a global interconnected network is the cyberpunk future I was promised.
Truly Gibsonian shit right here.
