@jasonchaas Thanks for this. A very kinetic situation with lots of moving parts. Even in the UK we’re having to game the next 20-40yrs and the predicted rise of 300GDD and the appearance of semi-arid environments. Climatically, Central France provides us with a blurry model of our future, but some warm Mediterranean environments don’t really have the luxury of road-tested templates.

We do the sheep-in-the-vines, water recycling and no tillage thing in earnest, but it’s a mistake to think these have some sort of equivalence to the actual climate and existing soil type, however well intentioned. Not everything is constructable. It’s as if we can’t quite give up on the conceit of mastery.
