I'm a blind attorney from Oklahoma. I enjoy rowing, skiing and pretty much anything I can do outside. This account is mostly sarcasm, nonsense and me talking about my chickens because I have officially become a crazy chicken lady. Chickens are the best.
The neighbor's cat spent #Caturday with me so have a pic. i'm really not trying to steal someone else's cat but his choice is clear. He is spending more and more time at my house. He hung around for about 8 hours today, mostly napping on my couch. To be fair, it is a very comfy couch for napping. Last weekend, he showed up late right before I went to bed. He had been in a scuffle and showed up with the tip of his ear bleeding. I cleaned him up and he stayed overnight because I didn't want him to get into more trouble in case his combatant was still around. At what point do I just give up and steal this cat? He clearly feels safe here and his owners don't seem to give a shit about him. People suck. He is such a sweet boy. He deserves better.
There is a cat named Flip who lives a few houses down the street from me. He is quite possibly the friendliest cat I have ever met. He is so friendly that he routinely visits many houses on the block and invites himself in. I have now become a pit-stop on his rotation. He usually sneaks in when I come home from work or when II’m coming in from taking care of my chickens. The chickens are completely freakked out by him so it’s reached the point where I just put him in the house for a while so I can let my chickens out to free-range without them going into hysterics over the cat invader. Long story short, I now have a part-time cat. My neighbors are aware and seem fine with it so yay I Guess. The little mooch is at my house so much he even has a litter box and some food. I don’t really feel like I had a choice in this arrangement. My house has been claimed and my only choice is to give my feline overlord a comfy place to crash whenever the mood strikes. At least I get to do #Caturday now.
I wasn't planning to let the chickens out this evening because it seemed like rain was imminent, but when I was out collecting eggs, the chickens were rather vocal about their desire for their evening play time. This is actually the quiet part of their protest. I wish I had started recording sooner because they were really letting me have it. Bossy birds. Yes, I totally caved and let them out for a couple hours. It didn't rain. Everyone is happy.
LOOK, another chicken selfie because I can't resist taking a picture with my girls when they are chilling with me. It's especially hard to resist when I have guided frame on my Pixel to help me get decent shots. My Pixel is going to end up with nothing but chicken pics. This is Nugget, my most social chicken. She is also the smart one and is very loud and bossy.
I really love the guided frame feature to help me line up good pictures on my Pixel. It's really boosting my confidence with taking photos and is way better than the guidance you get with VoiceOver. The Pixael is going to be full of chicken photos in no time. Here's one I got while out with the girls after work today.
I recorded this while I was out with the chickens. There's some chicken chatter and the birds in the neighborhood were singing their hearts out. You can hear the chickens jumping up on me and a little scratching around as they enjoy the meal worms I gave them. It's all rather lovely but the best part is at the end when you can hear my neighbor singing. He is doing a bunch of work on the house but apparently he was enjoying himself because he was belting out some tunes. It was quite glorious. I don't know what he was singing but it was so happy and joyful, just like my neighbor. It made me smile. Also, my neighbor really is a very nice dude. I'm a fan.
Chicken selfie! This is nugget. She fell asleep on my shoulder. I started to get chilly and I finally had to move her to the sleepy chicken pile with her sisters. i’m pretty sure she would’ve slept there all night if I would’ve let her.
Just had a nice sit outside with my chickens. caught this pic of Nugget sitting on my knee. She camped out there for a good 20 minutes letting me pet her. She is definitely my most social chicken. She is also the most active and outgoing. She's always first to try new foods or investigate unfamiliar things. And she's the most vocal. She gives me hell when I go out and don't have any snacks in hand. She's very sassy.
