Picked up some of the new(ish) speed paint markers to try for finishes, and immediately went to town on the Old Umbrey. I don’t see it replacing the brush by any means, but it’s admittedly a really fun way to get paint onto minis.

Given how well the overall game on Saturday went and how much fun I had with Mechanithralls, yeah. Master Necrosurgeon Sepsira jumped up on the painting priority list.  Her kit does a fantastic job of supporting those funky little dead guys, so I definitely foresee her getting a lot more table time.

Something kind of magical happened for me this last Saturday. I was playing a basic journeyman game of Warmachine against a bro and for the first time in ages, actually felt that special spark of joy playing the game again.

I ended up losing (said buddy plays a solid Lord Carver and I was learning a new list), but we both had a great time and I certainly can't put a price tag on rekindling an old flame.

This Slann has been sitting on the sidelines unfinished since the mini first came out. With the burst of energy on painting lizards lately, decided it was time they finally got wrapped up.

Finally reaching the point with the Mechanithralls where the end is in sight. Tonight’s plan is to add the green lighting effects to the remaining four in this unit, then perhaps to get another layer of varnish down before finally finishing the model with basing. (Naturally my least confident part of the process)

And then I’ll finally be done with one Mechanithrall unit…. With only five more to go.

Last few nights have been some great inspiration for getting painting done. (I blame dubbed Dragonball Z Kai being great background noise)

While I know I should be focusing on Warmachine for upcoming games, I can’t deny that occasional need to paint a beautifully designed GeeDub mini.

In my continued struggle of owning more crap than I'll ever be able to paint up, I've decided to swallow my pride and try going with quicker shader based paints - at least for factions / armies that aren't super special to me.

This particular chicken gave me a lot of concern and "trust the process" moments, but has ultimately helped build a lot of confidence that I can go this route and have minis that I'm still quite happy with.
