Absolutely fabulous piece on pseudo-archaeology and its ties to racism and white supremacism.

Atlantis and the Apocalypse: The World of Pseudo-Archaeology | Ideas with Nahlah Ayed | Live Radio | CBC Listen

A Netflix series called Ancient Apocalypse claims that a thriving civilization was wiped out during the Ice Age by comets and floods, but left humanity with science and technology. Experts call this "pseudo-archaeology." IDEAS unearths how pseudo-archaeology has been used to advance political and cultural ideas, and where it crosses over from pseudo-science to religious myth-making.

Got a little Christmas gift from my parents. Bonus points for the dirt on the figure's leg. But even my mother knew that he shouldn't be wearing shorts on a dig site, at least not in our neck of the woods! 😂
@jjhysell my first archaeology prof was constantly quoting Monty Python. Except he was quoting it from his memories of seeing it in the '70s, and usually hilariously misquoting forty years later.
"Nobody expects... Cardinal Richelieu!!" was my personal favourite.
Okay 10/10, five stars, would recommend the Helly Hansen sailing bib pant for all your mucky archaeology needs (and not just because I got them at a discount). Hopefully they also hold up to long-term wear, but I remained completely dry and comfy all day in these.
Pulling a favourite photo from my files by way of introduction. Here is an in-progress shot of our public excavations at the Albion Mines Foundry (1827) in Stellarton, Nova Scotia. The casting sand floor with its scorching patterns has been my all-time favourite thing to excavate. #archaeology #foundry #industrialarchaeology #publicarchaeology
@mexiqueancien Fundidora Park looks fabulous; I hadn't heard of it before! I'll add it to my list if I make it to Mexico someday!
@mexiqueancien thanks very much! I'm an archaeology consultant so I do work on any site type that lands in my assessment area (Atlantic Canada), but specialties are historic buildings (particularly vernacular houses) and industrial archaeology.
Just starting out on this platform and am on the hunt for archaeologists, heritage building specialists, and historians to follow.
