Vehicle Bow Waves in Floods: This afternoon I've been talking to residents affected by the flooding in Gloucester. One of the many problems they face is the bow waves of vehicles driving through the floods. Such waves can easily spill over sandbags and surge up drives. I noticed this myself from an emergency vehicle that was driving cautiously and slowly through the flooding. Does anyone have any suggestions to reduce the effect, or know of any relevant research?

I've been reading Material Word by Ed Conway and found it a fascinating account of the mining and use of natural resources. It is now being read on BBC Radio 4. Well worth catching up on.
