The reason I regularly feel compelled to defend the energy / climate progress of the UK (the country of my birth) is that the UK is actually doing pretty well. And you would not know that from the UK news! It's a British trait to believe we must be doing badly, our efforts are in vain, nothing we do will ever work - but it's not true here! All the 'green crap' is genuinely reducing the UK's demand for fossil fuels, and also its CO2 emissions!

Struck by the last line: "Bangladesh announced plans to close all universities from Monday, bringing forward the Eid al-Fitr holidays as part of an emergency bid to conserve electricity and fuel."

I think a lot about how abundant fossil fuels have allowed us in rich countries to largely ignore the seasons, or the cost of resources. Not everyone has that luxury. (And extra holiday sounds great, but think about all the planning it throws awry).

"I am not here to make a careful comprehensive argument, because people have already done that. I am here to be rude, because this is a rude technology, and it deserves a rude response."

"But I am a hater, and I will not be polite. The machine is disgusting and we should break it. The people who build it are vapid shit-eating cannibals glorifying ignorance. I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself."

I am an AI hater. This is considered rude, but I do not care, because I am a hater.

I found that merch table link extremely helpful for finding music from spotify on bandcamp. In fact I got a bit carried away and my bank decided the 16 credit card transactions in quick succession were fraud. Paypal worked, though.
KPop Demon Hunters was really cute and fun! I was initially put off by the fact that it was in English, then found the Korean audio option. Two of the songs are absolute earworms.
I watched The Old Guard 2 tonight and it was pretty good, but I'm having more fun listening to The Prodigy's awesome Glastonbury set. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002f7cq
