Who was the #HistoricalFigure you read or watched the most #Fictional (fictionalised) stories about during your childhood?

Mine was probably Sisi (Elisabeth, Empress ofAustria and Queen of Hungary).

Actually, the "Sissi" trilogy (the one "s" difference is VERY important!) was kind of a revelation to me, how a fictional genre (the typical rustic-nostalgic depiction of the mid-19th century in the movies made during the 1950s) can shape the presentation of #RealHistoricalEvents

@stephenfry
I know, I know it's not the same, but at least Norwich has won against Swansea yesterday.
( Unfortunately, my bet was on Swansea, but never mind...)

Just silently adoring this beautiful painting by Emanuel de Witte (1617-1692)

Hello,

Robert Harris was mentioned earlier already, I just want to add two other novels by him:
POMPEII - another novel set in ancient Rome about the doom of Pompeii in 78
ACT OF OBLIVION - his latest book (2022) about the men signed the death warrant of Charles I.

Also, did you know that The Miniaturist has a sequel? The House of Fortune is its title and set 18 years later than the original story. I found it less interesting, but other readers might love it.
