@joelmorris This is great - thanks for the recommend! I teach Creativity, AI, and Experience, and discuss The Dress and Laurel/Yanni in all of it. It’s amazing how the wobbly bits of perception help explain so much. It’s all inference - patterns and predictions. Gestalt thinking. I’m sure the same for comedy.

@davidallengreen The lesson I take is that if you try to use irony to make a clever point, some people will always misunderstand and think you’re being serious and you’ll still be trying to explain it 1000 years later.
@joelmorris Hadn’t thought of that before. It’s weird because Silicon Valley is sort of anti-fashion, so the staff are dressed in tech company uniform of t-shirts and hoodies. Think they’re aiming for exclusive and accessible. Everything’s fancy and expensive, but come in - it’s ok, look I’m dressed like it’s Saturday!
The shops always remind me of heaven in A Matter of Life and Death. Classical/Modern, big staircases, eerily sparse, bits of the mundane dropped into somewhere utopian.
