@deobald Yeah, I'm in this new "co-live" style apartment.

Basically like dorm rooms, big shared kitchen, no living room, heavy on building amenities. According to the pamphlet, this is how Europeans live.

The building community actually is pretty great, though.

@deobald I just moved into a *new* new apartment at the end of summer. Highlights:

* I need 4 apps to live here (building app, buzzer app, laundry app, mailroom app).
* I report maintenance requests by chatting with an AI bot.
* I have to fob into my lobby, apartment and bedroom.
* If l lock my keys/phone in, I can't re-enter any door I exit. I could log into another person's phone app to fob in, but the 2fa code goes to my phone number.

In other words, I relate to this post 🙂

I’m already a big fan of Boring Technology, but that term normally applies (and, within McKinley’s 2015 essay, certainly applies) only to tools for software development and not to apps and services. I want to use that term everywhere. The same principles — that a tool need not be new, flashy, shiny, complicated, intricate, or the absolute perfect fit — apply everywhere. Liquid Glass is dragging my iPhone 11 SE into a deep dark pit of performance collapse, despite the fact it’s every bit the useful little pocket computer it was back in 2020.

This is great! I love seeing little purposeful applications like this.

A new release of my GitHub (and now Codeberg/Forgejo) backup tool, Octarchive, is out! It used to already have somewhat workable support from Gitea, but now Codeberg/Forgejo are properly supported out of the box, with a little guide for each!

It's kind of cute how the opensource community has effected a cultural rendition of Nicky Nicky Nine Doors.

Tagging this as #GNOME because I don't want to talk about #GNOME with anyone that disagrees with me.

@vixalientoots Haha, fair. Rust does look a lot like a Regex language sometimes.
