“Bluesky could be the future of content moderation”.

I 100% disagree.

Yes, the protocol offers a plethora of ways to filter content and ensure you never come across, say, Nazis.

But that’s not what content moderation is. Content moderation is making decisions. It is either welcoming or refusing certain types of content on your platform.

If you’re letting everyone in, and telling your users "but you have control!", you’re not moderating anything. You’re just quitting.

You are never going to remove all the fascists. You cannot actually kill the fascist ideology through reason and argument because it's not based on reason and argument as you would understand it.

What you CAN do, is make fascists so afraid that they stay in their basements having sekret Klan meetings and sharing letters in Soldier of Fortune magazine.

We have failed that part. And this is what happens when you let it take root in your society. You're still having dinner with nazis.

You're not going to believe this, but his information doesn't turn out to have been very reliable. #trans #science #news #journalism

I've got to decide about mastodon next weekend. $35 to renew the custom domain seems like a whole bunch for zilch.

The Magnificent Fraud (1939, Robert Florey)

The Magnificent Fraud tells the unlikely tale of an actor on the run who just happens to be in the right place at the right time for the role of a lifetime. Akim Tamiroff’s stage actor’s enjoying a residency of sorts in San Cristobal’s hottest nightclub, one maybe owned by the president’s troubleshooter, Lloyd Nolan. We get to see Tamiroff do Cyrano, then Napoleon. The latter perfo
