Official account of the Anchorage Democrats. We are a regional sub-organization of the Alaska Democrats. We meet the 4th Monday of each month at 5:30pm. Meeting info and more at www.anchoragedemocrats.org. RT != endorsements.
@KrazyTheeAlaskan Everyone who voted took it very seriously. There was a lot of discussion about all of these points. On social media, there hasn’t really been anything brought up that didn’t come up in the endorsement process or the voting discussion. Just that in situations like this, someone doesn’t get what they want, or even nobody gets what they want, but that is democracy. You’re right on 🎯that this is all going to come down to voter turnout. #WorkWorkWork 😅
@KrazyTheeAlaskan That is only true if one of the candidates would be able to get 51%, but either way, our endorsement doesn’t take anyone out of the race, it only allows us to support both of those candidates. This is going to be about getting voters and retaining them for November. 🤞🏼 enough voters come out to trigger a runoff, and that we win the runoff. The fact that people threw their hats in the ring is independent of our endorsement. There was healthy turnout for the endorsement vote.
@KrazyTheeAlaskan could we have voted to endorse one candidate? Sure, but we didn’t. There seems to be an assumption about which one would have gotten the endorsement. What if that assumption is incorrect? What happens then? Additionally, in 2021, we only endorsed Forrest. That didn’t get him over 46%. The other candidates stayed in the race. Then, when it came down to Bronson vs Dunbar in the runoff, Democrats and left leaning voters stayed home. So the lesson from that was voter turnout. /2
@KrazyTheeAlaskan We (the 16 house dsitricts, regional vice chairs, and officers) voted to dual endorse. That is our process. Some districts wanted one and some the other. Why is a split vote bad? Does it mean more votes for Bronson? No. The only way his percentage goes up is if people get mad and don’t vote, which hopefully they can be adults. Would it make sense to encourage one to drop out? Not for us. That’s not a realistic option. /1

The administration of Gov. Mike Dunleavy has unsuccessfully sought for more than four years to require public union members to opt in annually.

Several days ago a deranged and in need of a change 91 times indicted narcissist claimed he’d take nearly 70% of the vote, but he barely cleared 50%. He said Haley was going to get 11% and she got nearly double that. So he’s bigly mad. Meanwhile Biden is legalizing weed and mass pardoning people with minor possession offenses, negotiating cost of prescriptions down to historic lows, and the economy keeps getting stronger, in spite of the trash heap TFG left us with.
