CW: Domestic violence, murder, drugs

I got a FB message from my sister today that one of her elementary school crushes had been murdered by his wife. The police department’s post suggests that domestic violence was likely at play. It has me reflecting on why I don’t like it when people use the language of escape for successful people from dysfunctional families. There’s too many phone and FB messages about people who died from overdose, drinking, and preventable diseases. You never escape.
