@monicarooney @torontostar I frankly can't believe it hasn't been a bigger issue. I'm not talking about donating to a party or even having political opinion (which, as a polling co still seems dicey), but this was straight up being senior member of the campaign team and actively manning the PR front for the candidate.
@estunautre @rocknorris There's some benefit (and drawbacks) to the federated model: obviously there can be independent moderation (a plus and possibly a minus), subject matter focus (which could be managed with lists/tags etc), and of course distributed infrastructure (which I suspect is more pragmatic than technical).
@jessrawk @MattMerk @tkleinwalsh @soupfox I pop in from time to time! Still haven't got a decent density of people here yet to make the switch. We all acknowledge the bird site is shit, but you go where the people are.
@torontostar Fundamentaly don't trust Abacus as a pollster after one of their founders was heavily involved (e.g. ghost tweeting for candidate…well, sometimes not even remember to ghost it) in local mayoral campaign.
@rocknorris The server/federated thing is a big hurdle. There should be a twitter.mstdn.com or something that's flat. I think they got rid of 'toots', they're called 'sharts' now.
