Modern UX:
1. Make something people want to look at
2. Put shit on top of it.
I'm happy to announce a major sponsorship of Hanami and @timriley. I want to see more useful frameworks and tools for building Ruby apps and I don't know of a better option today than Hanami. 🌸
I’m happy to announce a substantial $12,000 grant to the Hanami framework. I’ve been a massive believer in Open Source software since publishing my first open source project in 1995. There’s nothing more empowering than direct access to the exact source code needed to solve a problem. But Ruby has a problem: it’s mostly a monoculture around Rails. Merb and Sinatra provided valuable app framework options in the past, I believe we need new options for the future.
I (finally) wrote up my thoughts on "Founder Mode" and the Brian Chesky morality tale about how he turned around Airbnb company culture.
This material has seeped into the Silicon Valley water table; it must be dealt with. Let's mine the gold nuggets out from underneath all the 💩.

🌸 Here’s something new: our first State of Hanami update.
Everything we did this year, and what we’re looking forward to in the next. Hint: exciting things lie in wait!

🌸 Announcing Hanami 2.2
With our new database layer and operations, the Hanami 2 vision is complete!
🌸 Announcing Hanami 2.2.0.beta2
For our second (and final!) beta of 2.2, we’re adding MySQL support, and introducing a powerful way to work across multiple databases.
(pssst, if you’re also a user of param validations inside actions, we have a little treat for you in this release too)
i was sitting at the Franklin bar w/ colleagues watching as Palo Alto rolled this out. We were all looking at each other incredulously, asking things like "Is it 2009 again? Who the hell greenlit women in skin-tight black dresses with lampshades on their heads?" https://www.theregister.com/2024/08/14/palo_alto_networks_execs_apologize/
