ALASCA e.V. is an association for open-source cloud infrastructure and our mission is the collaborative development of operational open-source projects. Through collaboration beyond projects, communities and countries we are driving digital sovereignty in Europe forward in a sustainable manner through creating a broad range of technological tools that enable the self-management of digital cloud infrastructures.

We are hosting the Hackathon as part of our ALASCA FOCIS project, which is financed through funds of the Sächsisches Staatsministerium für Wirtschaft, Arbeit, Energie und Klimaschutz and the Sächsische Aufbaubank - Förderbank. So in addition to our sponorings, we are very grateful for the financial support from that side and for the opportunity to bring the community together.

This measure is co-financed with tax revenue on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon state parliament.

Our Sponsors for the ALASCA Community Hackathon 2026 💚🎉

As we are 7 days away from this year’s ALASCA Community Hackathon in Stuttgart, anticipation and excitement are rising! As a NGO, we greatly appreciate the support from our community.

Thank you to B1 Systems and STORDIS for providing us with a delicious catering and to UhuruTec AG for taking care of the entertainment by inviting all Hackathon participants to their summer party on the evening of July 1st.

We are blessing your feed with some amazing news today! The extension of our project ALASCA FOCIS, financially supported through funds from the SAB, has officially been confirmed and we get to keep on working until end of March 2027. 🎉

We’d like to thank the Sächsisches Staatsministerium für Wirtschaft, Arbeit, Energie und Klimaschutz as well as SAB for their continued support in our pursuit of digital sovereignty in Saxony.

We are still reminiscing about the SCS Summit a few weeks ago. And what better way to do so than to watch the amazing talks and panels that took place at this year’s SCS Summit.

The panel on “Open-Source-Standards in der Praxis”, moderated by @Gerbsen offers great insight into the question of why companies work together in associations like the @SCS even though they are direct competitors 👉 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bv9A6PQsyQ

The ALASCA TechTalk #36 from May is now live up on our YouTube Channel!💚

A few weeks ago, we had @revol_xut from @dd_ix on our Tech-Talk and he presented the open-source project IXpect, that just recently found its way into ALASCA.

He gave an introduction on their association DD-IX e.V. and then dove straight into the technical aspects of IXpect.

❗If you are intersted in understanding how IXpect works, check out Tassilo’s talk here 👉 https://youtu.be/IyX4u8nN2jE

Anthropics blocks access to AI models ⚠️

If we ever needed another example to undertand the gravity of our digital dependencies on U.S. companies, here we are. When governments are able to take away your access to AI overnight, we are not looking at an issue with technology, we are looking at an issue with sovereignty and control.

Let’s continue working towards a digital sovereign Europe through open source - across organizations, communities and technical boundaries. 🚀
