Someone suggested it would be /LOL/ to change my default notification to the WinXP error notification "chime". It is not. I wince every time. It is a horrible noise. Who designed that and went "yup. that's the one"?
Always know when it's freezing 'cos the dogs, normally as keen to get off the sofa as I am to get out of bed (nature or nurture?) are super super excited. It's always a sniff tastic walk.
Poignant times. My first domain registrar, circa 1999 or something, "Freeparking" probably recommended by Ask Jack or something, got taken over by "names" a few years ago, but they obviously couldn't be arsed dealing with the hideous asp based mess they'd inherited. Today I got a names account for the 2 domains I never bothered moving. End of an era innit?
Yes, that time of year. Get to work, put work gloves on engine. Mmmm. Toasty fingers, if only briefly.
Putzmeister unfolding. Sounds like a prog rock band. Actually a concrete pump. And boy does it Putz concrete in a Meisterfull way. No pics after this because I was covered in concrete. Nasty stuff.
Just found this "fait maison" broom in the ceiling void of the house I'm taking apart. This is fine, right? I shouldn't worry or anything?
So I see a lot of metaphors on here about servers being like planets or islands or neighbourhoods or whatever, and I kind of want to talk about my experience and add in yet another metaphor.
The big servers are like cities, and the smaller ones are like villages. Lots of people prefer to live in villages. They like the sense of community in there. But some people prefer cities and get something out of that that I've not seen discussed much.
@stavvers you're retwee I mean errr, sharing, whatever, everyone I ever followed on that bird site, into my timeline (is it a timeline?) so thanks for that. 👍
I'm worried that what's going to happen here is that I will end up with two twitters.
