Oh, how they mock us—these gods and these men who think they are gods.

And we are forever doomed by our pettiness, which compels us to tear each other apart for all the silly reasons, and our privilege, which allows us to ignore all the real fights.

To see it coming is our curse: never early enough to make a difference, never late enough to avoid guilt.

Except your tears were there, and I was the only one to see them…

Urbicide is a crime against humanity..
Against all of humanity.. against the memory of those who passed.. against the possibility of those yet to be born...

They hate our cities, for the city is witness to our unique paths through modernity. They hate our cities for the city is keeper of our struggles.

They actually hate us for a kind of freedom that never made sense to them. Much of it lived despite our home grown torturers because the city nurtured it.

Urbicide is a crime against humanity.

In Pink Floyd's High Hopes there is the image of a ragged band following in their footsteps.
The specter of who they were always a few steps behind.

I feel I'm being chased, pushed to move faster, to run. I look behind and it is only my specter chasing me.

PentaSynth can now be played by wiggling fingers in front of the camera.

Khaled’s OCD makes him avoid smudging touchscreens, so I set out to build an air synth mode. This is an early prototype, but it’s already fun to play with.

It takes me a long time to figure out which social script I'm in.
By the time I catch on it is too late to change the plot.
The embarrassment that follows is so strong it drowns out whatever negative feelings arise.
Guess I'll take the win #agency_is_overrated

On the anniversary of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution, I discuss its legacy and the impetus for my forthcoming book, Counterrevolution in Egypt. @[email protected]

Anti-Mubarak protesters march through Nasr City, east Cairo, 29 January 2011. Photo by Hossam el-Hamalawy. Every year, the anniversary arrives accompanied not only by ritualised remembrance, but by denunciation. Official media and regime publicists do not treat 25 January 2011 as a moment of collective courage or polit

My new vibecoding toy project is a musical instrument: https://alaaosh.github.io/pentatonic/
Pentatonic scales are fascinatingly intuitive, can I overlay chromatic harmonies without losing that "can do no wrong" feel.
Hopefully one day I get to build a toy that interests kids on the spectrum!

Oh the joys of procrastination and writer's block.

Still think burning the planet for these AIs is a suicidal move, that we are nowhere near AGI, and that the only singularities we'll ever encounter are in mathematics.

18 years ago in Rome I hated going out and being the youngest in the room.
Now in london I hate being the oldest.
Fact that DJ is playing same music then and now says something about this moment that I can't figur
