Stevie picks up his custom LP Junior style build. This was a tricky one, great to see it finished & enjoyed.
Success! The guitar is now hanging level.
Drilling two big holes in one of your besties is no fun! 😭 I strapped the guitar on and taped a bag to the rear point, found that about 300g of lead shot balanced it quite well. The two holes are 3.5cm diameter by 2.5cm deep, so a total of around 50cm cubed in volume. Wood has a density of about 1g/cm cubed so I’ve removed 50g wood and added just under 300g lead. Epoxy resin poured over the shot soaked through pretty quickly and evenly, so it’s looking good so far 👍🏻
This guitar has a fair bit of neck-dive (the neck end falls down towards the floor when hanging on a strap). So I’m going to try weighting the tail end with lead shot. Not something I’ve done before so it may be a total balls up. Updates to follow…
Truss rod repair for an 80’s MIJ Fender P-Lyte. Removal of the rear fillet, extension and re-tapping of the truss rod and nut threads, re-installation and re-finishing. Lots of re- stuff I guess 😆
I joined this fretboard back onto the neck with 4 rosewood pins. Can you spot them?
If anyone was wondering what sort of quality you get when my workshop padawan Tom Baxter works on your guitar, it’s like this 😁
