Bluesky is 'federated and decentralized' in the same sense that Discord is.

Sure you can set up 'your own server' if you ask nicely, but it'll all go through their servers in the end, so what having a server actually means is vague at best and useless at worst.

Just come to the fediverse, it's already an open web standard, if you want to run or even write your own server you can just do that using the excellent documentation out there already.

I very much doubt bsky will ever be on this level
