@notjustbikes my feeble European mind still cannot comprehend these things every time I see them in Toronto
They are as wide as the fucking streetcar! I’m not even being dramatic, they are THAT ridiculous
USAmericans really don’t know when to stop, don’t they
@paige It helps to buy tickets with the data from the passport you’ll present on arrival, though 2 separate one-way tickets are expensive
Other way around this is to travel through 3rd country (i.e. not just transferring there), which is even more expensive but hey, more travel
One more for #CanadianCivil
It’s hard to translate “пиздец” to English in all of it’s glory, but that won’t stop me from trying hehehe
Although, in all honesty, English should just borrow pizdetz directly from Russian, it’s a really good descriptor of what we’re all feeling about the state of the world right now
@nixCraft IndentationError
@Techaltar Add to it about a year of waiting for an interview in the consulate/embassy, where you’ll be escorted with armed guards to the bulletproof window with visa officer who might or might not lowkey interrogate you, and you’ll get the classic B1/B2 visa process for those of us with passports of “poor” countries
They really do their best to make you feel like a criminal in a jail, classic US experience I guess
When you make the same mistake 6 times, you’re either an idiot, or Toronto municipal government.
Redesign the street with traffic-calming measures built-in, instead of wasting taxpayers money on yet another speed camera replacement and making fools of yourselves ffs

Parkside Drive speed camera cut down for 6th time in 8 months, despite new security camera | CBC News

While the city says it is working with the police to prevent future vandalism, one Advocate says the lack of meaningful safety measures remains a big concern on Parkside Drive.

@notjustbikes I’ve had to use a cheque for the first time in my life only after I moved to Canada lol
I always thought it’s some backwards capability thing, or just the “if it ain’t broke” type of situation (they still FAX prescriptions to pharmacies ffs), but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just the big 5 pushing back since there’s no incentive for them to innovate, they already own the market
Oligopolies are holding Canada back so, so much, in every sector of the economy
@info Is this event just for creators/professionals and such, or are the fans of said creators also welcomed? The lineup sounds like a great time, but I’m not sure if I’m the intended audience
