@mathowie Isn't that pretty much what they ARE saying?

My supermarket recently started selling these apples, and I love them.

I've probably eaten more than 25K #apples in my life, and consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur.

These look rather "rustic". Some are basically covered by one big skin imperfection. If you prefer glossy red ultra-sweet apples, these are not for you.

Taste varies, even within the same bag. Some are a bit watery and "meh", but when you get a good one they are really, really tasty.

Wellant appels - Home

De Wellant appel is een rasecht Hollands product, met aanvullende teelt in een paar omringende landen. Je kunt dus altijd rekenen op appels van dichtbij, niet van de andere kant van de wereld.

Baked apples with cinammon and sugar. Peeled em, mashed em, and put heavy cream over em 🤤

Highly recommend, you just halve an apple, sugar cinammon, tinfoil tent, bake 45 at 400F. Remove the tin foil, add 1/4C water. Cook 15 more.

Top with sweetened heavy cream or ice cream.

@JamesK @DevlinLeathercraft

Supermarkets and groceries are oriented towards a wholesale market that is going to be bringing apples in from Washington.

If you don't want to be at the mercy of their produce departments there's a farmers market in Boise and some apple orchards in the are (according to Google).

I don't live where you do so obviously might have the wrong idea. But that is where I would look.

@JamesK @DevlinLeathercraft Where do you live? Good chance someone is still growing those apples.

@PavelASamsonov You underestimate the blame-shifting power of leadership.

Key superpower.

If I were king I would divide autumn into two seasons: Harvest and Hoarding.

More on this thought later but it's Hoarding now.
