Puny wife, puny life

Half a year later, I have a new job with a little more free time & less stress.

Decided to learn elixir/phoenix/erlang for a project I've been mulling over for a couple years. I was going to learn vue.js also, but I just heard about Phoenix Live View and it sounds exciting...

Maybe I should blog my progress and post here and stuff. I never do that sort of thing.

originally when i started pursuing my CS degree I wanted to go into netsec. I had been going to hacker conferences for years, and considered myself part of that community.

quickly into my schooling i realized that i wouldn't be able to do the work without working with law enforcement, the department of defense, or the nsa. so, i didn't pursue that. i tried to work ethical dev jobs for awhile, but i've come to the conclusion that the entire tech industry is some of the worst manifestations of capitalism.

now i sell apples at a food co-op and hustle to survive

Federating technology isn't as important as democratizing technology. I find myself pretty in agreement with this article.

It's technically challenging to design and build these systems, but more fun and easier than actual social organizing and political activity.

The letter which is what is really needed to actually catapult use of federated services into the mainstream.

The Federation Fallacy

@liaizon I guess I'm interested in anyone talking about day-to-day news/current events, on the left/socialist spectrum
I'm not spending much time on the fediverse because I love reading political commentary on birdsite like a schmuck. Who are some excellent fediverse political commentators to follow?

To my internet friends,

I hope that your gifts are well-received, that your relatives are tolerable, that your merriment is made, and that your hearts are full of peace and joy.

Merry Christmas.
