Coinbase lol.
The importance of #Metldown and #Spectre goes beyond the sheer vulnerabilities they cause. They are a wake-up call about the dangers of the business model that became dominant after the digital revolution: the #duopoly. The whole IT space is affected by it (Android vs. iOS, Windows vs. Mac OS, AMD vs. Intel, Nvidia vs. AMD etc...) but no one seems to notice. It's about time we address this sick market model and apply the only possible solution: open source everything.

Good to know: Raspberry Pi is not vulnerable to Meltdown/Spectre because they use processors that don't do speculation.

Also a nice, clear explanation of how the vulnerabilities work.

Why Raspberry Pi isn't vulnerable to Spectre or Meltdown - Raspberry Pi

Eben gives you a crash course in how modern processors work to explain why Raspberry Pi is unaffected by the Spectre and Meltdown security vulnerabilities.

@Anna I agree Twitter can feel super isolating! Maybe I'm guilty of misplaced nostalgia, but I don't remember it always being that way... I've not been on masto enough to compare properly, but it feels more like early than late Twitter
If everything is pwned then does transparency and redundancy of blockchain make it somehow safer than banking systems?
@jedmund how long have you been off? Curious how many masto users are bridge figures and how many jump ship entirely. Latter sounds what I want to want to do, but part of me knows I'll miss it too...
Day 1 on masto = #meltdown + #spectre

Haha I think my 8-year-old netbook with an Intel Atom N450 is unaffected by #Meltdown

It's like Battlestar Galactica where the Cylons can't hack them because their equipment is too old lol

Live orchestral music is the shit. Prokofiev knew what's up.
وفين المصريين والعرب بقى؟؟
