The Pilot Kakuno is a top #fountainpen recommendation, especially for kiddos looking for their first pen. It's one of the few name brand pens available for under $15, has an excellent nib, and comes with a sturdy click cap that reduces the chances of inky accidents.

The Kaweco Skyline Sport #fountainpen was my very first pocket pen! The mint edition with Diamine's Soft Mint ink is a great combo! The cap threading keeps the pen firmly closed when jangling in pockets, but Kaweco sells a detachable clip if you're looking for more security!
