At the meet & greet, you will get to meet old and new SGMA members as well as allies across the AAS. Refreshments and ice breaker games are also provided!

At the panel discussion at UW, we will focus on helping queer astronomers navigate academic and personal lives through this current wave of anti-LGBTQIA sentiment, especially anti-trans legislation across the United States. Hope to see you at AAS and at our events!

Are you going to #AAS241 in Seattle? Stop by the two events SGMA have planned for you!
-SGMA Meet & Greet (Tue 01/10, 7-8:30pm, Convention Center Room 305)
-Queer Friendly Workspace in the Current Environment: A Panel Discussion (Wed 01/11, 5:30-7:30pm, UW Campus)
We at SGMA are heartbroken by the events in Colorado Springs. We mourn the senseless loss of members of our #LGBTQIA+ family. We deserve to feel safe, especially in the spaces we create to build community. We know how much incidents like this affect our members since they affect us as well.

The AAS Committee for Sexual-Orientation and Gender Minorities in Astronomy (SGMA) is now on Mastodon. For those unfamiliar with us, we Initially established as WGLE in Jan 2012, and work to promote equality for LGBTQIA+ and sexual minority astronomers. Our DMs are always open if you have anything you want us to focus on!

The AAS Committee for Sexual-Orientation and Gender Minorities in Astronomy (SGMA) works to promote equality for sexual-orientation and gender minorities (SGMs) within our profession, including those identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, questioning or queer, or asexual. SGMA was originally established as the Working Group on LGBTIQ Equality (WGLE) in January 2012.
