I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but this movie is directed by Stanley Tong, who directed Jackie Chan's early 90's crossover hits: Supercop, First Strike, and Rumble in the Bronx.
He also directed The Myth (2005), which apparently this movie is a semi sequel to.
