On my desk I have three monitors:
1. Cheapest 2560x1440 "gaming" monitor from LG that I could get my hands on back in 2023 (EDID doesn't even show the model). Likely PWM.
2. LG 24EA53V (1920x1080) from ~2012, likely DC.
3. NEC MultiSync LCD2470WNX (1920x1200, ~2007, CCFL).
On my workbench I have a pair of:
- Dell 2007FPB (2x 1600x1200, ~2007, CCFL)
Plus my Chromebook, which I got as a birthday gift back in ~2022:
Samsung Electronics SDC4142 (13.3' 3840x2160 AMOLED)
Using old CCFL monitors I can stare at them for hours and not feel any tiredness, same with my Chromebook.
Old 1080p LG monitor is also fine, my eyes don't really hurt but they get tired a bit more than with CCFL.
However, with the (currently main) cheap 27in LG "gaming" monitor it's... pretty bad, especially if I decrease brightness in the evening.
It's so bad in fact that I consider de-commissioning it and use it only for games (which is a bit ironic, as I haven't played almost any games outside of few VRChat sessions since... 2023).
I'm really torn on this one because CCFL displays use A LOT more power, but are much nicer to use overall. Or maybe I'm just crazy, who knows
