A common web component learning blunder

Through stalking the #WebComponents hashtag and my Frontend Masters course, I’m privy to a lot of developers’ first experiences with web components. There’s a wide range of people digging in, but the most common first-time experience I come across is a developer coming from a classical component framework like React with JSX going straight to writing vanilla Web Components, becoming frustrated, and then deeming web components “not ready for primetime.”

In #OOD we used to call everything a Manager or a Factory when the role was not clear. In the #cloudnative world we call everything an #api .
That feeling you get when 25 years into your career you finally have a really good reason to use a #UML diagram and you remember what your teacher said so long ago: only describe what you know and make it readable by another human.
The electricity and water use required by data centres is becoming cause for concern. Iowa and Ireland are calling for moratoriums on new development projects. Microsoft’s global water consumption grew 34% from 2021 to 2022. And estimates say that around 80% of content in data centres could be stuff we never use again, stored by default to consume energy in perpetuity for no purpose at all.

Generative video: Hold my beer.

Biden: Forgets stuff.

Trump: Constantly lies and adoringly quotes Hitler. And forgets stuff.

Not a difficult choice.

When I was a teen my dad used a fountain pen and I used a Bic. Today I lug my expensive mouse everywhere, and my daughters do everything with their teackpad. Why doesn't Montblanc make fancy expensive mice? I probably would want one! #old and in #tech
No Shakespeare yet, but here's another copy of "Art of the Deal."

Nearly half a century ago, James Burke's groundbreaking series "Connections" came on the scene. The opening shot of the first episode is at night at the World Trade Center, lending a power when viewed now that he couldn't possibly have imagined back in the day. His perfectly timed introduction to a Saturn V (correction: Saturn IV) launch (hard to do retakes on that baby!) is still well remembered today.

He has revived the series since then over the years, and a new version has just begun streaming again!

This is most welcome news indeed. But hopefully he won't be wearing that damned leisure suit from the first series on this one.

I used #chatgpt to convert notes into document prose I was struggling to finish. I am feeling #guilty. But, to be honest I am not sure any one will pay much attention to my document at work.

Omg even the paragraph is not really a paragraph.
