To commemorate this important anniversary, the Vienna Philharmonic has once again invited Maestro Riccardo Muti to conduct the orchestra's annual New Year's Concert.<br /> <br /> The artistic collaboration with Maestro Muti that began in 1971 has given rise to more than 500 mutual concerts, including six New Year's Concerts, Philharmonic subscription concerts, memorial concerts, guest performances and tours, as well as numerous opera productions. A special highlight of the 2024 season will be the anniversary concerts celebrating the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th Symphony under Muti's baton. <br /> <br /> Daniel Froschauer, Chairman of the Vienna Philharmonic, emphasizes the conductor's special significance for the orchestra: "Riccardo Muti has held an exceptional position in the history of the Vienna Philharmonic for over 50 years. An honorary member of the orchestra since 2011, Muti has helped shape the repertoire and specific sound of the ensemble in a unique manner.</p>
