The first week down and the month of being positive and productive has started well... Maybe not best prioritised but any work done is good!
The rack is re-managed and the new NAS case is racked up whilst I wait for components to come in.

Dark mode isn't the default in OSes for a reason folks. It's one of those accessibility aids that's grossly inaccessible to a ton of people.

Respect the OS settings if you're making an app!!!!!!!

If a user has chosen light mode and reduced motion, don't fucking launch with dark mode and swishy animations!

Don't be an asshole!

Too many devs are being absolute assholes!

Lets take ibuprofen together šŸ’–

This isn't exactly how I thought @emf would go down in history #emfcamp

So far the daily driver experiment is going... poorly.

Day to day use of the system for general computing āœ… Great.

Gaming compatibility āœ… No problem!

Overall performance āš ļø Despite all advocates, no, this is slower than Win10/11

Hardware Compatibility āš ļø No keyboard software, no drivers for USB devices... No USB drives unless they're inserted before boot?!?! (What is this, Win95?)

Lots of general niggles in social use of the PC like no sound in Discord screen sharing **is** a deal breaker I'm afraid and any solution cannot be hours in the terminal or solo-dev on github with homebrew curl commands.

@mattgrayyes Solution: pepper your home with multiple BlĆ„haj so you’re always within hug range
Why would I want to get out of bed? That’s where BlĆ„haj is.
I just re-read my post and I’m like.. partner… partner……. FiancĆ©e?? Now we’re engaged I think I’m supposed to be using fiancĆ©e but partner just sounds nicer xD

I’m doing this Linux trial with my partner @kanthorne and so far.. so good!

I used to run Linux by default in 2006-2008 (didn’t use windows), then got a MacBook…. And still ran Linux on the MacBook by dual partition (needed to for uni). Dropped Linux in 2010 and then finally moved to windows 10 in late 2017… it’s now 2024 and I’m going back to Linux…. (At least for a while anyway to see!)
So far seems to be doing everything I want. Only exceptions are:

iCue (and it does not recognise my mouse/keyboard through open RGB)

Not keen on how it handles some stuff with triple screen setup.

Need to figure out steamdeck/macros for switching audio devices.

Otherwise. Yeah.. it’s neat!!

Previous distro used:
Kubuntu
Fedora
Suse
Mint

Attempted distro:
Pop OS

Current in use distro:
Manjaro

Weirdly never thought I’d see the day that I’d consider daily driving Linux again… but here we go! Let’s see! šŸ‘€
